TomTom Telematics: No ordinary Sat Nav!
Technology is pivotal to Crossflight and our systems integration capability is one of the key factors enabling us to deliver outstanding customer service. One example of this is the use of TomTom Telematics, a B2B Geographical Information System (GIS). This is an extended development of the navigational systems built into many new vehicles; however, it is no ordinary Sat Nav!
To many with only a consumer level interest in technology, the Internet of Things (IoT) is relatively new. This year has seen the debut of many internet connected devices that send data for control and monitoring. Such items include wrist-worn fitness devices that monitor heart rate and other bio-medical metrics and ‘smart home’ devices that enable smartphone control of domestic systems, such as heating.
Efficiency, speed and safety benefits
TomTom Telematics is a Machine 2 Machine (M2M) based system, the commercial implementation where smart devices communicate over the internet. The TomTom Telematics’ fleet management platform known as Webfleet is integrated with our own booking and despatch software.
This real time system automates the process of directing drivers to collect customer order items, piping the information straight into the cab without the need to receive calls from the office or take details while driving. This provides outstanding efficiency, enables fast response to customer orders and improves road safety by reducing driver distraction.
In place for around a year now, reporting and monitoring enables us to deliver higher standards of customer service by providing vehicle tracking, updating back office workflow progress and reducing human error. The system also provides us with data on vehicle dynamics, such as speed and braking, so we are able to understand if our drivers meet the standards appropriate to Crossflight.
Superior support for technology integration from Crossflight
TomTom Telematics is just one way our technology capabilities enable us to deliver better services. The experts in our technology team integrate customer systems with ours to create efficiencies similar to the TomTom M2M system.
Whether it is your finance system for managing purchase orders and invoicing, or a complete Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system requiring integration to support 3rd Party Logistics (3PL), our in-house software development team delivers superior technology support than larger and smaller international express couriers.
